SF Ballet Adult Class

So my friend Tracy Bae has been encouraging me to take ballet class with her since we have moved to the Bay area. I am very hesitant to take ballet class. Actually… I am over ballet. Some of you will be shocked, because many of you know that I have spent the last 30 years of my life immersed in ballet. I think that is why I am so over it. Presently, I am so TIRED of perfecting and working so damn hard for an aesthetic that feels so unattainable for my body. I mean I will always love ballet, but I am more interested in freestyle dance like tap or house.

Well, I decided to go to ballet class with Tracy for two reasons, one because she is just an awesome person and I like hanging out with her, and two because whenever we hang out I know that there is good food and possibly ice cream afterwards. I also had interest in taking this particular ballet class because it was at San Francisco Ballet School, a rare occurrence for a internationally recognized top notch company to open their doors to the public. The class itself was taught by Ruben Martin Cintas, who is a company member with SF Ballet. The accompanist was excellent, the studios are clean, the class wasn’t too crowded and the combinations were fun but gave the attendees a challenge. I know many of my former ballet students like to take class in other cities when traveling, I would suggest these classes at SF Ballet.

Of course Tracy and I went to Blue Bottle Coffee after class and ate. I got an iced coffee with almond milk (its really good) and a poached egg over really yummy toast! Links below for info!

xoxo,

Onisha

Great to see you and Tracy together! If you are ever in Seattle, PNB also does open adult class and taught by corps members (at least the time I was there). Was challenging but fun and I felt like everyone was friendly and accepting. There were some senior students or apprentices in class and they were fun to watch.
